When discussing what the bible explicitly states, some will state "well, its just your opinion". Some will even state "well, I don't see it that way". The implications are that truth is just a matter of opinion; but is it?
If God declared something that which offends him; that applies to all people at all times everywhere. If God declared that getting drunk offends him and a believer in that which was declared re-states the declaration, is it just their opinion? No, it is still God's declaration.
When Jesus declared that he is the way and the life and no man comes to the father except through him and a Christian states that no one can come to God except through Jesus; is it just a matter of the Christians opinion? No, Jesus declared it.
The question is actually this: Do YOUR opinions line up with GOD'S Declarations?
Do you share the same opinions of God? He you see the world through his eyes? Do you believe the he knows what he is talking about more than how you feel?
When people reduce God's explicit declarations to mere opinions, it is actually their sinful heart attempting to justify their sinful desires while at the same time trying to silence and minimize the messenger of God.

The opinions of the Jews vs Jesus:
Because the Jews did not believe in Jesus' words; was Jesus' words just a matter of opinion or were they true for everyone including the Jews? Of course! Jesus' words were truth for all people, at all time, everywhere. Romans 3:2-4 highlight this very issue.
"Killing The Messenger"
That phrase "don't kill the messenger" is ignored when it comes to Christianity. Christians are the messengers of God. They preach and teach what God has declared. Yet, are hated and persecuted socially and physically for it.
When they make known things that offends God; they are told to shut up and keep their comments to themselves. They are pressured to only 'speak positive words' and not to be judgmental. They are expected to live by modern social morals that are not even biblical; The world and even some of those who claim to be Christian confuse the fact that the messengers are not the ones judging; all they are doing is making known what God has already declared and judged.
Adultery is a sin. Anyone who commits adultery is in sin. I did not make this judgement. God did. It is not my opinion but it is truth from God himself.

Why TRUTH, and not opinions, Is Important
Those who are saved by faith in Jesus Christ grow in faith and mature spiritually by learning, knowing, accepting, and understanding all the truths that God has declared,
If you are NOT accepting and understanding God's truths than you are NOT growing and maturing in faith. The process of Sanctification is done through God's truths as John 17:17 declares:
If God declared something that which offends him; that applies to all people at all times everywhere. If God declared that getting drunk offends him and a believer in that which was declared re-states the declaration, is it just their opinion? No, it is still God's declaration.
