Don't Judge Me

At some point all genuine followers of Christ will be labeled judgmental and told to "not judge" someone for what ever reason.  Positivism and Emotionalism has crept into the church and infected the minds of some believers.  They are quick to water down God's own decrees in fear of offending the world.  They care more about their own likability and image before the world than they do making what God has already declared known.  They are scared of the 11th commandment; Tho Shalt Not Judge.  What what does God say about making his truths known?



The ignorance and stupidity of "don't judge me"

That is a judgmental statement.  It is hypocritical and self defeating.  It assumes the individual spoken to will judge them.  That is a judgement on the individual by the person speaking.  Thus; the statement can not be a true statement because it fails its own standard.

YES OR NO

How do you determine positive and negative peers? 
How do you determine positive and negative music, movies, books, pictures?
How do you determine to break up in a relationship or end friendships?
How do you determine what schools you want to attend or jobs you want to apply for?

These are all MORAL applicable JUDGEMENTS that everyone makes about other people through life! And you can not say they are not.

Would you allow your child to view pornographic magazine, at a strip club, with porn movies playing in the back ground because it is your place of work?  Why not?  Who are you to judge what is right or wrong?  See where I am going?

TWO KINDS OF MAN-JUDGEMENT

I am not talking about judging the soul and eternal spiritual state and stance of someone before God.  Do not be confused with God's holy judgement and our obligation to responsible discernment.

Within our responsible discernment (man-judgement) there is a wrong way and a right way. Hypocritical Judgement and Right Judgement

Hypocritical Judging

Matthew 7:1 is the most quoted out of context and purposely misunderstood verses in The Bible in our modern society.  What everyone who uses this verse to silence critics leave out is the rest of Matthew 7 and the whole point why Jesus made that statement. If you also notice, this precedes Matthew 6 where he made comparisons to hypocrites.

Matthew 7:6 tells us to determine the 'dogs' and 'pigs'.  How are we suppose to do that if we "can not judge"?!  Then he tell us to 'recognize' people by 'their fruit' in verses 14-15! How, with out making a judgement?! 

He says in Matthew 7 given the whole context is that we are not to judge by a worldly standard or by our own; thus making us hypocrites because we can not keep our own standards (Romans 2:1).  The statement itself "don't judge me" is proof of this hypocrisy. What standard do we judge by?! God's declared truths.

Righteous Judging

Jesus states in John 7:24 “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly".  The world does not see things correctly so it judges by appearances.  God sees all things and has made it known; thus his standard is correct.  We compare and judge things by HIS standard, not our own.

To rightly Judge we must know 2 things: 
1)  God's Decrees
2)  Facts of the thing being judged (Prov 18:13)

Simon the Pharisee passed judgment on a woman based on her appearance and reputation, but he could not see that the woman had been forgiven; Simon thus drew Jesus’ rebuke for his unrighteous judgment (Luke 7:36–50).

Temperament of Righteous Judgement

Just because God does give us the responsibility to rightly judge; does not make our execution of it correct either.  We are still called to be gentle and genuine (Titus 3:2), merciful (Matthew 5:7), and forgiving in our judgements.  Just as we want to be judged (Matthew 7:2).

Commanded TO JUDGE Rightly and Justly:

Genuine believers are expected to "test everything" (1 Thessalonians 5:21),  and teach everything, even if it offends people (Acts 20:27; 2 Timothy 4:2).  Acts 20:27 specifically stated that it is not right to water down what God declares and Paul commanded Timothy to "reprove and rebuke" others.  We are even commanded to gently confront sin in the church and by other believers (Galatians 6:1)!  

All of this is not possible if "don't judge me" was true.  It is a lie.  We are commanded to rightly judge.  By doing so we see who truly cares for our spiritual well being and who fears the opinions of mankind over God.
